Lam Baroe was a station of the Korps Maréchaussée in Atjeh, one of the two posts — with Lho’-Nga — at which the 5th Divisie of the corps was quartered in 1898.
The 1898 localisation
The 1930 jubilee number gives the corps’s disposition in 1898: Staff at Koeta Radja; 1st Division at Selimoen; 2nd Division at Indrapoeri; 3rd Division at Tjot Mantjang and Glé Broet; 4th Division at Tjot Goet; 5th Division at Lam Baroe and Lho’-Nga.
The name is formed with the Acehnese topographic prefix lam-, denoting a village near water.
Later dispositions
In 1910 the 5th Division was stationed at Lho Soekon, where it remained at the time of the 1930 jubilee.
