Account in du Croo’s Generaal Swart (1943)
From The resistance in Atjeh 1908–1912
December brought the settlement for October: besides many prominent resistance men reporting themselves, among them two oelama’s notorious for their religious school where resistance against the Kompeuni (“the Company (the Dutch power)”) was preached, sergeant Bossert surprised a ladang in the night of 5–6 November, arresting a band-head with six followers; the same patrol shortly afterwards laid low the band-head who had dealt lieutenant Van Eendenburg the fatal blow in October. On that occasion the well-known Acehnese guide Si Beuram fell on the Dutch side and the patrol commander sergeant Bossert and two men were severely wounded. A patrol under lieutenant Van Arkel surprised an enemy band in Pameu, in which four well-known band-heads fell. And so December became the closing piece: at last Tgk. Poeti’ submitted with all his teungkoes, panglimas and sixty followers.
