On this date in 1874 the opperbevelhebber van Swieten, against his own journal’s confession of losses (4 February), passed over to the annexation of Groot-Atjeh (‘the skin of the bear sold before the bear was shot’); on this date in 1885 the series of evacuations of the posts Boekit Seboen to Pakan Badak began in the completion of the concentration (see Completion of the concentrated position (March 1885)).
