From 1914
1914 brought the vaccination unrest in Groot Atjeh in April; the murder of Civil Authority W. van Kregten at Lam No on 20 May and of the overseer C. H. R. Heins at Lhong on 13 July, leading to the resistance in Daja and Lhong and its suppression by lieutenant Snell at Koeala Daja on 5 August and the banishment of Teukoe Mamat on 2 September. Pang Intan was killed at the Waih ni Wis on 2 April; T. Radja Tampo’ levied tribute in Tadoe and Tripa in March. On 6–7 March the Sumatra Post published Swart’s interview; the reform replacing military by civil authority took effect on 1 March. An agricultural school opened at Pedir on 12 February.
