Lho’Nga is recorded by Jongejan as part of the geography and historical landscape of Aceh.
In the eye survey of Groot-Atjeh (1937)
Lho-Nga appears repeatedly in Dr. C. E. Gomperts’s eye survey of 1937. It was one of only four places in Groot-Atjeh not populated exclusively by Atjehnese — with Koetaradja, Oelee-Lheuë and Seulimeum — though the admixture with Malays, Padangers and others was very slight; and both the IV Moekims and the IX Moekims of Lho-Nga are named among the coastal and valley districts covered by the survey.
The Volkstelling 1930 had supposed that in the onderafdeelingen Lho-Nga and Seulimeum a slight natality had long existed, connected with a slight fertility of the women through factors not certainly known — avitaminosis among this population group was suggested — and with great child mortality, which had caused the group of the non-adult to shrink so that the group of adults became relatively large.
In the moekims Lho-Nga, Lhong and Lam-Kabeuë, xerophthalmie was known among the Acehnese population under the name penjikit sisë, while in the remainder of the surveyed area the condition bore no such name.
Lho-Nga was also among the districts where Western influence had penetrated further and traffic was busier, which gave Gomperts a measure for the frequency of venereal infection and hence for its small share among the causes of blindness; and among those where the concentration of conjunctivitis follicularis would have been expected had that condition been a form of trachoma.
