Langsar Estate was a plantation enterprise in Atjeh that served as a key destination for the survey parties sent in February 1950 to assess the condition of the plantation enterprises following the Dutch-Indonesian hostilities. The second group of some twenty planters, led by Sutan Barus, travelled by jeep via P. Brandan to Langsar Estate, where the party split — some proceeding to Takengon to inspect resin and serpentinite enterprises.
Post-survey management
After the V.V.R.O.S. delegation’s visit to Kotaradja in August 1950, approximately 40 of the roughly 50 enterprises in Atjeh were released, of which 20 were immediately taken into management. Said Abubakar was appointed manager (beheerder), with technical advice provided by C. A. Kleingeld, inspector of the Sipef, who remained for several months at Langsar Estate.
