Garot was the resistance centre in Pidië which fell to van Heutsz on 1 June 1898 after a bold storm.
En op dienzelfden dag viel reeds na een stoutmoedigen storm — ‘The whole line forward!’ — het verzetscentrum Garot, waar de pretendent-sultan Toeankoe Mochamad Dawot, Teukoe Oemar, Panglima Pòlém en ook Teungkoe di Tjòt Plieng, het hoofd der Oelama (geestelijken) partij, zich hadden verzameld. Vanaf dat oogenblik was het gedaan met hun rust en hun plannen. In the night of 8–9 December 1908 Tgk. Aron carried out his huzarentukje at Keudé Garot, and Behrens surprised Tgk. di Mata Ië by the Aloeë Garöt in 1913.
