On this date in 1883 a number of men of different social positions and turn of mind addressed the King by petition against the intended concentration of the Atjeh garrisons — the address which, like the protests of 1882, was never answered (see Concentratie-stelsel (1884-1896) and Rutgers van Rozenburg).
