Lambesi was a landing-place on the coast connected with the Tenom complex of the Atjehsche resistance, where on 3 July 1884 the treason of Toekoe Oemar destroyed the unsuspecting crew of a Dutch war sloop: seven men were killed, and all their weapons were taken (see Lambesi treachery (3 July 1884)).
