Indrapuri was/is a historic district and former royal citadel site situated along the Aceh River in Groot-Atjeh.

Historical Context and Role

Famous for its ancient fortified mosque complex built on a pre-Islamic temple base, Indrapuri served as a strategic military outpost. In 1898, the 2nd Division of the Korps Maréchaussée was established here to secure the central valley districts.
