A gampong where religious instruction is still given (at the time of writing) by an old Teungku who takes his name from the gampong. Aneu’ Galong A village (gampong) in Acheh Proper. In the Hikayat Prang Gompeuni, Teungku Tiro directed his steps to Aneu’ Galong and Indrapuri during his tour of admonition. ‘From Seubun the ulama directed his steps to Aneu’ Galong and Indrapuri; in every place along his route he gave the chiefs instructions for the raising of sabil-contributions.’ After Teungku Tiro’s seven days of seclusion and mortification (tapa) at Lam Panaih, he returned from the XXII Mukims to the lowland districts, and the ulama then returned from Lam Panaih to Aneu’ Galong. Mat Amin and about a hundred followers perished in 1896 at the Surprise of Aneu’ Galong by the Dutch troops. Indrapuri A village in the XXII Mukims area of Acheh. Teungku Tiro directed his steps to Indrapuri as part of his tour of admonition to chiefs and people during the war against the Dutch. The name also appears in the Hikayat Indrapatra (literary work), which is a free imitation of a Malay romance and features a prince named Indrapatra on wandering adventures through the world.
