Roempit was a Dutch military post in the eastern section of the geconcentreerde stelling (concentrated position) in Groot-Atjeh. The post was established on 29 September 1884 as part of the construction of the new defensive line.
Location
Roempit was situated in the eastern section of the geconcentreerde stelling, forming part of the outer perimeter.
Establishment
Roempit was the first new post established during the concentration period. Construction began with the new road from Oleh-Karang to Roempit, and the post was occupied on 29 September 1884.
No significant enemy interference was encountered during the establishment of the post.

Significance
Roempit’s early establishment demonstrated the rapid progress of construction following the concentration decision. The post formed an important link in the new defensive line.
Account from Verstege’s Een beroep op het Nederlandsche volk (1886)
Verstege records that Roempit was occupied by Dutch troops on 25/29 September 1884 — one of the first posts of the new line to be taken in hand, while already before the completion of the new chain the evacuation of the posts outside had begun; that it was one of the eighteen posts of the line of 1 March 1885; and that, according to the latest news of the pamphlet (January 1886), the belt tramway of the line had then been completed as far as Roempit (see Completion of the concentrated position (March 1885)).
