Pasar Oleh Gli was one of the three places in Groot-Atjeh — with Pakan Badak and Lampisang — on which a powerful fire from all the pieces of the Dutch land and sea forces was opened in the early morning of 27 April 1896, after Toekoe Oemar had failed to answer the Regeeringscommissaris’s demand that he surrender his arms and munitions, raze his fortifications and submit.
