Lhoknga was/is a coastal district and bay located on the western shore of Aceh, just south of Kuta Raja (modern Aceh Besar Regency).

Historical Context and Role

In 1898, Lhoknga hosted the 5th Division of the Korps Maréchaussée, securing the western maritime approaches and suppressing coastal pepper smuggling.
