Teukoe Habib Moehamat bin Sajet Oesoeir was oeléëbalang of the small landscape Peudawa Rajeu, of Arab descent pointing to religious nobility (sajjids or sajets have religious nobility and great influence, per C. Snouck Hurgronje; habib means beloved).
Life and Dutch relations
When Dutch authority came in those regions and prevented war of Idi and Peureula over Peudawa Rajeu, this Moehamat, boy maybe 12 years, already head, while mother already remarried with head of Baya. His upbringing may under those circumstances have suffered, his attachment to government not damaged thereby.
In 1875 he received from government large presentation sheet of wrought silver; later coffeepot milkpot added, whole service, gladly shows old man today what remains of what he as child received. Such gifts government gave then more; per J. A. Kruyt, prince of Edi received silver coffee service, another head gold watch, third silver rice dish.
In 1895 received small star, in 1913 large star of loyalty and merit; documents kept. In 1899 signed Korte Verklaring in 3 articles replacing long contract 18 articles. Then sent yearly felicitation on 31 August to Queen, Governor-General and Governor of Atjeh with much pomp and Arabic terms. Then after some time letter from controller of Idi that he was thanked; order via Kabinet of Queen via ministry Colonies.
According to Broersma, around 1923 grey-beard about 63 years, sharp face sign gesture. Fixed income landscape with 400 souls but small: 155 gulden monthly. House neither big nor beautiful, poor, has debt and advance. But rich in love: with 14 lawful wives begot 17 children. His eastern patriarchate no unique among heads in Atjeh.
