Radja Kaliamsjah Sinaga was an Indonesian politician who served as the deputy head of state (Wakil Wali Negara) of the Negara Sumatera Timur (N.S.T.) and subsequently, after the dissolution of the N.S.T. on 15 August 1950, as a member of the advisory college assisting the acting governor of North Sumatra, Sarimin Reksodihardjo.
Role in the N.S.T. and its dissolution
Sinaga played a central role in the negotiations leading to the dissolution of the N.S.T. He represented the N.S.T., together with Tengku Arifin, in the discussions with minister Anak Agung Gde Agung (representing the R.I.S. and the Republic) and Sarimin Reksodihardjo (representing the Preparation Committee). The resulting agreement, announced on 5 August 1950, stipulated that East Sumatra would become part of the autonomous province of North Sumatra, which would comprise the pre-war residencies of Atjeh, Tapanuli, and East Sumatra.
On 18 February 1951, Sinaga departed for Djakarta, where the position of acting resident (res. t.b.) at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken) awaited him, and where he could also complete his studies at the Law School (Rechtshogeschool).
