Anak Agung Gde Agung was the Indonesian minister who, on 14 July 1950, established at Medan the Committee for Preparation (Comité van Voorbereiding) charged with the orderly liquidation of the Negara Sumatera Timur (N.S.T.) and its incorporation into the unitary Republic of Indonesia. The committee consisted of Sarimin Reksodihardjo, Mr. S. M. Amin, and Mr. M. Joesoef.
Role in the N.S.T. dissolution
The committee, under Anak Agung’s authority, negotiated the terms of the N.S.T.’s dissolution. The resulting agreement, announced on 5 August 1950, stipulated that East Sumatra would become part of the autonomous province of North Sumatra, comprising the pre-war residencies of Atjeh, Tapanuli, and East Sumatra. The committee was granted full authority (volledige volmacht) to act on behalf of the central government at Djakarta.
