The Technische Hoogeschool te Bandoeng was the technical college at Bandoeng for whose establishment four million guilders were raised by trade and industry in the Netherlands through the intervention of the former Maréchaussée officer W. V. Rhemrev.
The founding subscription
The 1930 jubilee number of Het Nieuws van den Dag voor Nederlandsch-Indië records, in its portrait notice of Rhemrev, that he was co-founder of the Vereeniging Nederlandsch-Indische Jaarbeurs, and that through his intervention “werd door Handel en Industrie in Nederland vier millioen bijeengebracht voor de oprichting van de Technische Hoogeschool te Bandoeng” — four million was brought together by Trade and Industry in the Netherlands for the establishment of the Technical College at Bandoeng.
Bandoeng was also the garrison at which Colonel L. A. Snell commanded the 2nd Regiment of Infantry at the time of the jubilee, and where his knight’s cross of the Militaire Willems-Orde had been presented to him in April 1927; and the seat of the Christelijk Lyceum at which the retired sergeant W. H. Loef was concierge.
