The Vereeniging Nederlandsch-Indische Jaarbeurs (Netherlands-Indies Trade Fair Association) was the body of which the former Maréchaussée officer W. V. Rhemrev was a co-founder, and through whose agency he helped to raise the funds for the establishment of the Technische Hoogeschool te Bandoeng.

Rhemrev’s role

The 1930 Maréchaussée jubilee number records that “de heer Rhemrev was mede-oprichter van de Vereeniging Ned. Indische Jaarbeurs, en door zijn tusschenkomst werd door Handel en Industrie in Nederland vier millioen bijeengebracht voor de oprichting van de Technische Hoogeschool te Bandoeng” — Mr. Rhemrev was co-founder of the Netherlands-Indies Trade Fair Association, and through his intervention four million was brought together by Trade and Industry in the Netherlands for the establishment of the Technical College at Bandoeng.

The episode belongs to Rhemrev’s civil career, following his service with the Korps Maréchaussée and his work as organiser of the Indië Weerbaar movement in 1917.
