Toengkob was a landschap in the Boven-Wojla region of the Westkust van Atjeh, part of the Federatie der Kawaj XII — together with Pameuë, Geumpang, Tangsé, Anoë, and Ara. It lay in the heart of the centrale bergland.
Potjoet Barin
Toengkob was ruled for decades by the remarkable female oeléëbalang Potjoet Barin, daughter of Teukoe Tjoet Amat, whose family had held the oeléëbalangschap for a very long time. After her husband (whom she had followed in the krijg) died, she became the rechtmatige opvolgster.
She made years of vechten, afgewisseld by tijdelijke rust in the afgelegen streken where the Kompeuni did not yet show itself. When the maréchaussée’s began schoon schip to maken in this deel of the Westkust, she weerde zich naar behooren, always on the been and bazig as the sterkste man.
She was shot in the onderbeen by a patrouille from Koeala Beh under luit. Hoogers; the foot rotte af for lack of behandeling, and she onderwierp zich. Veltman had her appointed as oeléëbalang, and arranged a wooden leg for her from Holland. She died in 1933.
