Meurandéh Paja was the village east of Lho’ Soekon in whose meunasah the patrol of sergeant Vollaers was destroyed on 26 January 1905.
The patrol, seventeen strong, “had neglected all security measures and was bivouacking carelessly”; sixteen men were killed and only one native fusilier escaped. It was for this attack that H. N. A. Swart, then governing at Lho’ Seumawè, considered it necessary to have T. Tjhi’ Toenòng arrested; Swart was then transferred, Van Daalen became Governor and converted the sentence of banishment into death, “although many were convinced that T. Tjhi’ was innocent and a victim of the eternal, mutually entangled Acehnese intrigues.”
