Lam Temot-rivier (“Lam Temot river”) was a river crossed by the Atjeh-tramway on a bridge — Brug over de Lam Temot-rivier (Atjeh-tram) — illustrated in the Encyclopaedisch Bureau’s volume De Buitenbezittingen 1904 tot 1914 as one of the two principal engineering works of the Atjeh-tramway network pictured in the chapter on the Atjeh-tram. The other pictured engineering work is the berglijn (mountain line) section of the Atjeh-tramway near the Aloer-Pantja viaduct.

The Encyclopaedisch Bureau’s account of the Atjeh-tramway includes two illustrative plates of principal engineering works of the line: “Brug over de Lam Temot-rivier (Atjeh-tram)” and “Gedeelte der berglijn van de Atjeh-tram, nabij het Aloer-Pantja-viaduct.” The Lam Temot-rivier bridge is, together with the Aloer-Pantja viaduct and the berglijn section near it, one of the three principal engineering landmarks of the Atjeh-tramway identified by the Bureau’s illustrations.
The bridge over the Lam Temot-rivier belongs to the post-1897 long-line phase of the Atjeh-tramway — the phase that followed the Dutch extension of authority into the Atjeh Dependencies after the betrayal of Toekoe Oemar in 1896. The berglijn section near the Aloer-Pantja viaduct belongs to the 1904–1908 berglijntje from Keude Breue to Seulimeum — the connection between the second tramway of the Dependencies and the old tramway of Great Atjeh.
Significance
Lam Temot-rivier is, in the Encyclopaedisch Bureau’s account, one of the principal engineering landmarks of the Atjeh-tramway — the river whose crossing by the Atjeh-tram is identified by the Bureau’s illustrations as one of the two principal engineering works of the entire network. The bridge over the Lam Temot-rivier is thus part of the material infrastructure of the post-1896 pacification of Atjeh.
