Aloer-Pantja-viaduct (also rendered Alur Panca viaduct) was a viaduct on the berglijntje (mountain line) of the Atjeh-tram — the line built in the years 1904–1908 to connect the second tramway of the Atjeh Dependencies at Keude Breue with the old tramway of Great Atjeh at Seulimeum. In the Encyclopaedisch Bureau’s volume De Buitenbezittingen 1904 tot 1914, the berglijn section of the Atjeh-tramway near the Aloer-Pantja-viaduct is illustrated as one of the two principal engineering works of the entire Atjeh-tram network.

The Encyclopaedisch Bureau’s account of the Atjeh-tramway includes two illustrative plates of principal engineering works of the line: “Brug over de Lam Temot-rivier (Atjeh-tram)” and “Gedeelte der berglijn van de Atjeh-tram, nabij het Aloer-Pantja-viaduct.” The berglijn section near the Aloer-Pantja-viaduct is, together with the Lam Temot-rivier bridge, one of the two principal engineering landmarks of the Atjeh-tramway identified by the Bureau’s illustrations.
The berglijn section near the Aloer-Pantja-viaduct belongs to the 1904–1908 berglijntje from Keude Breue over the hills to Seulimeum — the line whose completion the Bureau identifies as the moment at which “the military administration had created a powerful instrument for achieving the complete pacification of the intersected regions” of Great Atjeh and the Dependencies. The Aloer-Pantja-viaduct is thus one of the principal engineering works of the integrated Atjeh-tram network, and one of the material embodiments of the post-1896 Dutch strategic reorientation in Atjeh.
Significance
Aloer-Pantja-viaduct is, in the Encyclopaedisch Bureau’s account, one of the principal engineering landmarks of the Atjeh-tramway — the viaduct on the berglijntje whose illustration in the Bureau’s volume marks it as one of the two principal engineering works of the entire network. The viaduct is part of the material infrastructure of the post-1896 pacification of Atjeh.
