Glé Risé was the height in Atjeh whose strong and stubbornly defended enemy positions were taken on 21 November 1899.
Captain H. N. A. Swart led his company “with judgement and with great intrepidity” in the attack; he received a blood-blister on the belly from a thrown stone. The action formed part of the citation for his promotion to Knight 3rd Class of the Militaire Willemsorde by royal decree of 13 July 1900 no. 29.
