Beresteyn plantation was a sugar plantation in the interior of Acheh that was found in ashes by Dutch forces on 25 December. During the operation a member of the “Corantijnse overlopers” (Corinthian border detachment) from the Surinamese frontier was captured there.
Significance
The capture of the Surinamese border detachment highlighted the broader regional dimensions of the conflict, linking rebel activity in Aceh with the neighboring Dutch colonies.
