He married on 22 May 1901 Miss Victorina Maria Geertruida Stadlmair, then twenty-three years old. Swart had asked to be reposted to Atjeh at the end of his leave; at Padang he learned that the request had been granted — but the newly married officer had been given a station to which his wife was not permitted to follow him. So it was that on 17 September 1901 Swart arrived in Atjeh for the third time, alone. He returned from leave on 21 August 1901 aboard the s.s. Koning Willem III and was posted to the 12th Battalion.

H. N. A. Swart married Victorina Maria Geertruida Stadlmair on 22 May 1901, returned from leave on 21 August aboard the s.s. Koning Willem III, and arrived in Atjeh for the third time — alone — on 17 September 1901. On 6 December 1901 he received the distinguishing mark for long Netherlands service as an officer.

Born 12 October 1863 at Tjibitoeng in the East Indies. Father: Klaas. Mother: Cornelia Maria Johanna Maria Gouay. Afflicted with myopic astigmatism of 3/4 D. in both eyes. Married on 22 May 1901 to Miss Victorina Maria Geertruida Stadlmair, then twenty-three years old. These notes on the Staat van Dienst were signed on 30 September 1918 by Lieutenant-General Van Rietschoten as army commander.
