Tgk. Mat Saleh was the son of Tgk. Sjeh di Paja Bakong, killed with his father and with Tjoet Meutia in the surprise attack of W. J. Mosselman at the Kroeëng Peutòë on 25 October 1910.
The action ended the resistance in Keureutòë: “thus fell the great blind resistance leader, revered as a saint, Teungkoe Sjeh di Paja Bakong (Seupot Mata), his son Tgk. Mat Saleh, and Tjoet Meutia as well.”
