Teukoe Tjhi Peureula was the radja and oeléëbalang of the landscape Peureula during the first war years 1873-1875, of Groot-Atjeh origin whose ancestor had settled in Peureula and acquired government in that land, which later became a landschap under Dutch rule.
Ancestry and rule
According to Dr. R. Broersma, his ancestor came from Groot-Atjeh to Peureula, settled there and acquired rule, existing one and a half centuries compared with many later risen landscapes. He was an autocrat who would accept letters of recognition from the Sultan of Atjeh in Groot-Atjeh if necessary, but otherwise act according to own insight. Happy insight was to place himself on good footing with Dutch government. He possessed his war-force and his eldest son, teukoe moeda Peusangan, was a warlike leader when needed against Idi, but while noise of internecine Atjeh war-business was large, business itself was theatrical. Sharp, hellish, full death-contempt only became struggle when going against kafir demanding submission.
