Potjoet Abbas was an Atjehsche hoeloebalang (war chief, district head) whose submission was reckoned among the most remarkable pledges of the quiet that followed generaal van der Heyden’s campaigns of 1879–1880. Guided by Toekoe Moeda Daoed in July 1880 from the XXII Moekims to Kota Radja, he offered his submission to the Dutch government; in the survey of the pacification given by Verstege in 1886 — after Kielstra’s official history — his accession is named, together with the swearing-in of the Panglima Sagi Toekoe Nja Abbas Setia Oelama on 24 January 1880 and the reception of the aged ulama Toengkoe Sjech Marabahan on 7 March 1881, as one of the foremost submissions of the period.
