J. C. Schraver was a luitenant der mariniers who served under J. M. P. Kluit during the Edi River expedition (1890). He commanded the right‑hand marine platoon that stormed an Acehnese fortified position on the left bank of the Edi in June 1890.
Schraver’s troops suffered nine wounded, but they succeeded in driving the enemy from their earthworks, after which a klewang‑armed Acehnese combatant was killed by Van der Hegge Spies.
