De Kock, General‑majoor was the commander of the Dutch forces during the second expedition against Palembang in 1821. He directed the naval squadron that included the frigates Dageraad and Van der Werff and coordinated the riverine assault on the Soensang River (page 94).
Leadership of the 1821 Expedition
De Kock’s campaign faced numerous obstacles, such as obstructed waterways, fortified enemy batteries on the Peladjoe, and the island of Gombora being used as a defensive position. Despite these challenges, the expedition succeeded in forcing the enemy to retreat.
