The Bridge over the Kroeng Pengapit — het slaan van een brug over de Kroeng Pengapit op 8 November 1896 — was the construction of a bridge over the Kroeng Pengapit river in Groot-Atjeh, undertaken by the Genietroepen (engineers) on 8 November 1896. The bridge — constructed on the same day as the arrival of Kolonel Van Vliet at Koeta-Radja — improved the Dutch lines of communication between the geconcenteerd linie and the Blang Bintang / Selimoen region, and was a significant logistical achievement of the second semester of 1896. The construction of the bridge reflected the Dutch commitment to the forward movement of the second semester — the slow, methodical extension of Dutch control beyond the geconcenteerd linie, supported by the construction of permanent logistical infrastructure.
