Bombardment of the VI Mukim was the naval bombardment of the VI Mukim described in the later operations of the Second Dutch Expedition to Aceh.

Course

It occurred in the period when the Dutch also established a lighthouse on Pulau Bras, reconnoitred Maraksa, and sought diplomatic agreements through naval station commanders. Van Swieten’s account questioned coercive methods when they undermined the hoped-for separation of peaceful inhabitants from the war party.

Significance

The episode belongs to the continuing Aceh War and the contested consequences of the Capture of the Kraton of Aceh.
