Vervolgschool (English: “Continuation school”) is a term or concept described in Jongejan’s Land en Volk van Atjeh Vroeger en Nu in relation to Aceh. Two-year course serving as 4th–5th class of volksschool, located in all larger places.

Description

Two-year course serving as 4th–5th class of volksschool, located in all larger places. Sabang’s vervolgschool has Nederlandsch as a subject (no Hollandsch-Inlandsche school there). Two vervolgscholen have a 6th-class landbouwklas. Koeta Radja’s vervolgschool has a handelsklas. 40 in number, ~100 teachers, ~3,200 pupils.

Significance

The term Vervolgschool is recorded by Jongejan as part of the cultural, administrative, or institutional vocabulary of Aceh.
