Koeta Radja / Koetaradja is a location in or related to Aceh described in Jongejan’s Land en Volk van Atjeh Vroeger en Nu. Capital of the Atjeh gewest; named by the Atjehers for the Kraton.
Description
Capital of the Atjeh gewest; named by the Atjehers for the Kraton. Heavily fortified after 1874. Standplaats of the Assistent-Resident Groot-Atjeh. Site of the M.U.L.O., the Christelijk militair internaat (1929), the inheemsch internaat (1920), Amboneesche School, handelsklasse at vervolgschool, ambachtsleergang at Sigli was separate. Gouverneurshuis where the Pretendent-Sultan surrendered. Connected by rail to Lambaroe (1885) and by heirweg to Medan.
Significance
Koeta Radja / Koetaradja is recorded by Jongejan as part of the geography and historical landscape of Aceh.
