Seunebok Lada (historically spelled seuneubo lada) was the traditional Acehnese collective agricultural plantation system organized for large-scale pepper cultivation (Piper nigrum).
Organization and Structure
A seunebok was established when a capital investor (Peutoeha Pangkaj) teamed up with a practical agricultural manager (Peutoeha Djaga) to recruit landless laborers (aneu seuneubo).
The community cleared virgin forest, constructed drainage ditches (loeeng), planted dadap (Erythrina) shade trees, and set out pepper vines. Over time, many seunebok developed into permanent villages (gampong), with the peutoeha or his descendants serving as village head.
