Simpang-kiri — the Left Branch — is one of the two rivers which together form the Tamiang river in the onderafdeeling Tamiang of the afdeeling Oostkust van Atjeh, the other being the Simpang-kanan. The stroomgebied of the two rivers is the geographic core of Tamiang, and the great rubber-estate Simpang-kiri of a Belgian company lies on its banks.
