From Tgk. di Barat
In 1911 his presence made itself felt again. In January 1911 a great meeting of the resistance party had taken place at Seureulo in the Meergebied — the present sub-division Takèngön — at the place where Tgk. di Barat was hiding, attended also by bands of Gajòs. But the meeting was unluckily discovered or betrayed, and driven apart by patrols; the Teungkoe’s father-in-law was killed. When in the following month an encounter with the marechaussée likewise ended unhappily, Tgk. di Barat left the Meergebied and returned to the plain of Lho’ Soekon and Lho’ Seumawè.
From Takèngön
Formerly the mountain region “where the bands found good and safe hiding-places everywhere,” Takèngön became the seat of the sub-division. Seureulo, where Tgk. di Barat hid and where a great meeting of the resistance party was held and dispersed in January 1911, lay in the Meergebied, “thans onderafd. Takengon”. In April 1914 Takèngön reported the killing of Pang Intan with four followers at the Waih ni Wis. H. N. A. Swart crossed the lake by motorboat from Takèngön to Bintang with Hein Meijer on the inspection that produced the anecdote of the engine revolutions.

1911 had been an unlucky year for Tgk. di Barat. In January a great meeting of the resistance party had been held at Seureulo in the Meergebied — now the sub-division Takèngön — where he was in hiding, attended also by Gajò bands; it was discovered or betrayed and dispersed by patrols, his father-in-law being killed. The following month an encounter with the marechaussée went badly, and he left the Meergebied for the plain of Lho’ Soekon and Lho’ Seumawè to reorganise the resistance with Tgk. di Mata Ië. There the marechaussée awaited him; on 22 February 1912 Behrens surprised him with two brigades, “and that was the end for Tgk. di Barat. From that moment the situation in the whole North Coast division became stable and ranged from favourable to very favourable; the suffering there was over.”
