Scheveningen, the coastal district of ‘s-Gravenhage in the Netherlands, was the place at which D. W. N. de Boer signed and dated his study Het recht op den grond in Atjeh in November 1931.
Connection with Atjehnese history
Scheveningen and the neighbouring quarters of ‘s-Gravenhage were a common place of retirement for returned officials of the Netherlands Indies, and the colophon “Scheveningen, November 1931. D. W. N. DE BOER.” records the composition of the Atjehnese land-law study after its author’s departure from the gewest. The Koninklijk Instituut voor Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde, which preserved the offprint, was likewise seated in ‘s-Gravenhage, at Galewstraat 159.
