Markey plantation was a sugar plantation in the interior of Acheh that remained standing on 26 December after the Dutch expedition. It became a gathering point for rebel forces under the leadership of Atta (bendehoofd) and for enslaved Africans who had fled the “Societeitsplantages”.
Events
Rebels attempted to use the plantation as a base, but Dutch forces later secured it and reported the presence of women, children, and enslaved laborers who had been forced to join the rebels.
