Place in the afdeeling Noordkust van Atjeh; onderafdelingshoofdplaats. Standplaats of an Assistent-Resident from 1878. Site of the surrender of Panglima Polém to Kapitein Colijn. Has a landing field 7 km away donated free by the zelfbestuurder.
