Idi-rivier was the river on the east coast of Atjeh on whose left bank the attack of 11 June 1890 was fought.
The 6th Battalion reached the river at 6.22 a.m., crossed at once to the left bank and took position in the kampong Teukoe Itam. The citation for H. N. A. Swart’s first decoration reads: “On 11 June 1890, during the attack on the enemy positions on the left bank of the Idi river, he was the first to force his way into the fortification situated on the summit of the Roembia and defended almost to the last moment.”
