Willem Jan Mosselman was a Dutch military officer, Reserve Infantry Lieutenant, and early pioneer military aviator in the Netherlands East Indies.
Military Career and Service in Aceh
Born in 1884, Mosselman enlisted in 1900 and served as a Sergeant in the Korps Maréchaussée from December 1906 to January 1912. In 1912, he was awarded the Knight 3rd Class Military William Order (M.W.O.). He later became one of the first two licensed military pilots in the Dutch East Indies. He authored detailed literary memoirs describing Marechaussee jungle patrols and camp culture in the Barisan mountains.
