W. Leendertz was a former captain of Artillery of the Netherlands-Indies army who, with the former Maréchaussée sergeant W. J. Mosselman, was one of the first two Netherlands-Indies military aviators to obtain the Internationaal vliegbrevet (international flying licence).
The first two military aviators
The 1930 Maréchaussée jubilee number records, in its portrait notice of Mosselman, that after transferring in 1916 to the Luchtvaart-Afdeeling he “behoort met den ex-kapitein der Artillerie W. Leendertz tot de eerste twee militaire vliegers die het Internationaal vliegbrevet behaalden” — belongs, with the former captain of Artillery W. Leendertz, to the first two military aviators to obtain the international flying licence.
The notice supplies no further particulars of Leendertz.
