Toekoe Tjihik van Samalanga was an Achehnese chief of Samalanga on the north coast of Atjeh who was brought over to Groot-Atjeh with a hundred fighters in 1893 to reinforce Toekoe Nja Banta in his struggle against the Moslemin in the XXVI Moekims.
Transfer from the North Coast
Hooijer recorded that the prospects of Toekoe Nja Banta acting more vigorously improved when Toekoe Tjihik van Samalanga met 100 strijders van de Noordkust werd overgevoerd om hem te helpen — Toekoe Tjihik of Samalanga was brought over from the north coast with a hundred fighters to help him. The improvement was offset, however, by Toekoe Tjoet abandoning Nja Banta entirely at the same moment, becoming insolent towards Dutch officials, and finally being banished to Malaboeh.
Context
The transfer illustrates the Dutch practice of moving allied Achehnese contingents by sea between the north coast and Groot-Atjeh. Hooijer noted the reverse movement as well: from Samalanga alone an opponent of the pro-Dutch oeleebalang of that district crossed to Groot-Atjeh with two hundred followers to fight for Mad Amin against Toekoe Djohan and the Dutch.
