Tgk. Léjman was the successor of the well-known Tgk. di Tjòt Tjitjém, whose entire band was destroyed in the Meergebied in February 1911 by Jenae with a patrol of the 5th Division.
It was “a blow such as few have been struck”: thirty-six men fell and fourteen rifles were taken, and the European sergeants Loeff and Roobaart earned the Militaire Willemsorde in the action.
