A highly celebrated teacher of unorthodox mysticism (eleumiee sale) who operated in Pidie about 30 to 40 years before Hurgronje’s writing, drawing hundreds of followers and teaching a mysticism based on Hamzah Pansuri’s school. Even his opponents credited him with unusual mastery of Arabic grammar. Orthodox opposition instigated Bentara Keumangan to exterminate his movement, and he and many disciples were martyred; he was succeeded by his disciple Teungku Gade.
