Broersma impression: strong and capable head. In friendliness not exhausting, could call gruff, but understands to give answers to questions about volksbestaan that cut wood. Rules large landscape and receives therefore 600 gulden monthly from landscape treasury plus 125 gulden for auto. Maintains small truck for transport people goods and fetches daily fish from coast. Son visits Mulo-school at Koeta Radja and in vacations helps father in bestuur work.
With him Broersma calculated household rice consumption: couple yearly uses 7 picol bras (rice). Expressing quantities in Atjeh as bamboe: 1 bamboe is 2.5 katti bras. Each uses daily slightly less than katti; eats twice, 11 hour and 7 hour, taking fish, vegetable and pepper as side dish. Morning attached to cup coffee with cake or bras ketan.
