T. Bén Blang Pidië was den bekenden verzetsleider who kept the whole Tapa’ Toean district in unrest in 1908 and who submitted with his sons and hundreds of followers in the course of that year.
The action of the marechaussée under Veltman soon produced submissions: in June T. Bén’s eldest son with a hundred followers and nine rifles; a few weeks later T. Bén himself with two other sons and 160 men and another nine rifles; and towards the end of the year his two last wandering sons, whom he brought to the administration in person — “and Tapa’ Toean became quiet again.”
