Ramringt (preacher) was a Dutch‑language preacher whose name was found engraved on a silver candlestick recovered by a “negro” patrol at the plantation “Prosperiteit” during the Dutch expedition in December. The candlestick is mentioned in the Journal of Haringman as evidence of the presence of Christian missionaries in the region.
Significance
The discovery of the candlestick suggests that religious figures had a foothold in the interior plantations, possibly influencing local populations and the dynamics between rebels and colonial forces.
